I. C. M. A. Member Di Ann! Gets $10,000 Signing Bonus & The Company Limo
On the closing day of Ambassador Charlie Ray's Nashville Music Festival, Foxfire Records' President, Col. Jason Hawkins made a special announcement from the band stage. He had just signed an exclusive album production agreement with Mississippi's favorite independent recording artist, Di Ann! She stood smiling by his side, as he briefly explained the terms of the agreement. She received a $10,000 signing bonus and one of the company's Lincoln Limos, as part of the deal. Di Ann! is well known throughout the Mississippi and Louisiana club and festival circuit, where she tours extensively. Col. Hawkins said he had been watching her, for a couple of years. Her recent release of, "Are You An Angel" on the International Country Music Association's compilation caused him to pay special attention to her stage performance, at the festival.

Six Radio Programmers Need Your Music
The following radio programmers have been added to our compilation CD distribution list. They and about 700 other radio programmers will receive our next compilation CD. For a complete copy of our distribution list, visit www.radiocountry.org and click on the compilation CD link.

(We challenge the entire compilation CD industry to join us, by making their distribution lists public. We really do distribute our compilation, to hundreds of radio programmers. If they won't let you contact the radio programmers, how do you know you really got the radio distribution you paid for? Before you pay to be on their compilation, ask how many they really distribute and ask for a copy of their list. If the DJs don't have your music, they can't play it. If you have the time, money, and CDs feel free to distribute your music to our list. If you go out on our compilation, free to follow up with a card or letter to any or all of our distribution list.)

Hanna Michal In Discussions With Fame Of Muscle Shoals
If you've been involved in the music industry, you've heard about Fame of Muscle Shoals, Al. They started churning out million seller albums, in the 1960s and haven't stopped yet. We knew they were at Ambassador Charlie Ray's Nashville Music Festival scouting the talent. What we didn't know is Hanna Michals caught their interest. They are now discussing the terms of a possible agreement. Congratulations, Hanna! We caught you on stage, and we were impressed also. We'll keep our fingers crossed, for you.

Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now" Refused By Mercury Records
Toby told California newspaper, "The Orange County Register" he delivered a 10 song album to Mercury records, in 1998. The album included his smash hit, "How Do You Like Me Now." Mercury passed on 8 of the songs including, "How Do You Like Me Now." He said he was so disappointed he left Mercury and signed with Dreamworks. The rest is history.

DJs' Playlist Board Up And Running
DJs from several countries are posting their playlist, on our DJ message board. In most cases, you can find their mailing addresses and email addresses in their postings. Feel free to contact them about sending them your CD albums. Of course; you can check to see if you are already on their playlists. Be sure to thank them, if you are.

Special Thanks
With so many people, companies, and organizations helping to make our first annual festival a great success we are sure to forget to mention somebody. We don't really know where to start and don't have a clue where to stop. Please don't be offended, if we fail to mention you here. With that said, we want to give special thanks to a few of the hundreds of wonderful people who helped in so many ways.

Ambassador Charlie Ray, for putting it all together and making it happen.

Country Music Magazine for honoring us, by being at our first festival. You are better known and have more readers than any other country music publication. You cover the stars and the major label events. There are a lot of festivals that would love for you to cover them. You chose ours and we are grateful.

Mars Music, for furnishing drums and sound equipment for our band stage and Allie Cunningham, for all he did.

David Hanson, our webmaster, for always being wherever he was needed most.

Bobbie Patterson, for all she did before and during the festival. Without her, it wouldn't have been half as much fun or ran as smoothly.

The legendary Colonel Buster Doss of Stardust Records. Buster, your seminar was great. Nobody alive today has your hands on knowledge and experience in entertainment. You got a head start on most, by running off with a medicine show at the age of 12. You've out lived and outlasted the rest of them. You've acted in Hollywood movies, ran road shows, owned a circus, operated country music theaters, radio stations, newspapers, publishing companies, and record companies. Nobody could have done a seminar on the history and evolution of country music with as much grace and in depth knowledge, as you did.

Dale Blanton of Houston, TX and Jerry Sissom of Murfreesboro, TN for long hours of hard work setting up six stages, setting poles, stringing power lines, and countless other setting up details.

Dale and his wife Bonnie, for the great job they did running the band stage.

A. J. Siegler of the Southeast Missouri C. M. A. and ZEP Records. Thanks for giving two people each 5 hours of studio time and musicians. It will give them a start on their future careers. And, thanks bringing so many great artists from Missouri.

Rein and Els Wortelboer of the Netherlands for helping out more ways than we can mention.

Storm Seymour, Cherokee Mangus, Qua-Ti-Si, and dozens of other Native Americans for the fantastic entertainment and for just being there.

Rose, of the Nebraska Country Music Foundation, for doing a great job running a stage. Admiral Dorothy Shaw of the Foundation for her help in promoting our festival and all the other Foundation members for being here and entertaining all of us, so well.

Colonel and Mrs. Bill Foster of the Lone Star State C. M. A. for driving 14 hours to do a superb job of running their stage.

Suzi Cantu, of California's Golden State Country Music Organization and the Country Music Organizations of America for supporting us. Suzi, we missed you and we hope your grandson recovers from his surgery.

Colonel and Mrs. Bob Everhart of the National Traditional C. M. A. for their help, advice, and promotion. They have been doing a multi stage festival in Iowa for 25 years. Without their advice and support, we couldn't have done it.

The Chronicle, The Nashville Music Guide, and all the other great newspapers and magazines which covered our first festival.

Dennis Kahler of the Alabama Songwriters' Guild, the Songwriters & Poets of Ohio, the River Songwriters' Association, the Indiana Songwriters' Association, and all the other songwriters who brought their best songs and made them available to singers looking for great songs to record.

Dr. Jim Fullen for a great and informative seminar for songwriters. It's easy to see why Jim has been so successful as both a songwriter and a college professor.

We would like to thank all of the more than 1,500 people who attended our first festival. This entire industry runs on who you know. The unemployed guitar player you met at the festival might be playing for some major star, next year. If the star needs a backup singer or a musician, the friend you made at the festival can get you an audition. The unknown singer you pitched a song to might be the next Leann Rimes. When she recorded, "Blue" she was just another unknown little girl working at a little opry, in Mesquite, TX. When we decided to do a the festival, the executive board asked Ambassador Charlie Ray to put it together. He said he wanted to reach four goals: He wanted a showcase event where unknown singers might be discovered. Di Ann! and Hanna Michal proved he reached that goal.He wanted a seminar event, where singers and songwriters could pick up valuable career building information. Several seminars were conducted by very knowledgeable people. He wanted a fun event, where people could enjoy themselves. The hundreds of positive comments and email we have received, prove that he reached that goal. Most of all, he wanted a networking event. He wanted to bring music people together so they could meet and help each other. We saw people from Japan, Denmark, the Netherlands, England, Canada, Ireland, and more than 30 states meeting, mixing, and forming friendships. We have to say he reached all of his goals and put together a truly wonderful festival. The good news is, he's agreed to do it again next year. We hope to see all of you there!
