International Country Music Association ************************************************** WorldSpace Satellite Radio Wants Your Music We received this letter from WorldSpace satellite radio requesting our assistance in getting more country music. After minor editing, we are reprinting it here. Don't miss this tremendous opportunity to reach people in many nations. Other newsletters and magazines forward this newsletter and they will pass this important information on to their readers. Just in case WorldSpace gets flooded with CDs, send your CD, quickly! You'll have a head start on everybody who doesn't subscribe to this newsletter. Hello, I would like to learn more about your organization. Ours is WorldSpace, a satellite radio provider that serves Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. Later this year, we are planning to launch service to the Caribbean Basin and South America. No doubt, you have seen the adverts for XM Satellite Radio. That is the medium by which we have been broadcasting for nearly three years now. I program the UpCountry Channel. We are on the air twenty-four hours daily, seven days per week. Our disc jockey lineup includes professionals with deep roots and plenty of experience in country radio. All times are local Johannesburg, South Africa and Singapore times: Ed Rodriguez 0500- 0900Marty "With the Party" Dempsey 0900- 1300 Chris Roth 1300- 1800 Scott Carpenter 1800- 2200 John Dowling 2200- 0200 Specialty shows include: One of our biggest challenges has been making contact with artists. We need music, not just from the United States & Canada. We want good country music from Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa and wherever else it may originate. Sincerely, ************************************************** Most Important Event Of The Year There are so many awards shows, talent competitions, conventions, and events it's almost impossible to keep track of them. Nobody can attend all of them. You have to pick and choose which ones will do the most for your career. If you could only attend one event per year, it should be Ambassador Charlie Ray's Nashville Music Festival. There are a number of reasons. Size is important. The number of people attending make it a "must attend" event for many. Nowhere else one can meet so many music people in such a short time. Diversity is important. Many are impressed with the fact that people from more than 40 states and 6 other nations were there last year. Others were impressed with the multiple stages and open microphones. Some said the free seminars taught them more about the music industry than they had learned during their entire careers. Almost everybody was impressed with the relaxed informal feeling. Many said it felt like a family reunion. Everybody was friendly and willing to answer questions. Songwriters felt free to walk up to producers, publishers, record companies, and singers to pitch them a song. Singers were able to chat with record company executives. The activities director of Songwriters & Poets Critique was so impressed he wrote a hundred other songwriting associations telling them about it. If you can only attend one music event this year, make it Ambassador Charlie Ray's Nashville Music Festival. For more information, visit www.nashvillemusicfestival.com ************************************************** Correction In our last issue, we mentioned Daryl Harrelson will be conducting a seminar at Ambassador Charlie Ray's Nashville Music Festival. We mistakenly said he was the Vice President of the California CMA. The word Vice should have read Former. Mr. Harelson is the Former President of the California CMA. We regret our typo. ************************************************** The Following DJs & Magazines Want Your Music "Country Music Round Up" Editor, John Emptage, POB 111, Waltham, Grimsby, DN37 0Y7 United Kingdom "British Bluegrass News" Editor, Rod Smith, Winscombe House, Beacon Rd., Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 1UL, United Kingdom John Mathews, 19 Princess Crescent, Southam, Basingstroke, Hampshire, RG6 DP, United Kingdom Mike Plumbley, 38 Shorts RD, Fair Oak, Hampshire, S050 7EH, United Kingdom Dee Hallett, Firlawn, Dene Close, Chilworth, Hampshire, S016 7HL, United Kingdom Ron Hoysted, Country FM, POB 452, Belmont, Victoria, Australia 3216 Gwen Cunnane, Post Office Box 200, Innaloo City, WA, Australia 6918 PhIl Parnell, UUUFM, POB 3388, N.Nowra, Australia 2541 **************************************************

Both refer to themselves as the TCMA, which has caused some confusion. This one does not charge membership fees. The other one does. This one is headed by Jean Masseningale. She says she is interested in helping unsigned artists. She is not in it for the money. Her fees to enter the competition & eat at the banquet are very reasonable. For more information, visit www.tennesseecma.org ************************************************** Want to Have A Fun Evening?
