Lyrics By Jerry Barrett:

MY HEART WENT SOUTH
(Published as a poem in THE RHYMES OF GREATNESS,
presented by the FAMOUS POETS SOCIETY "99,
as with all my songs that originally started out as published poetry.)

We were young, when we met
And in a chapel our love was blessed
With all we had and all we are
You never left me in the dark.

We aimed for love and never missed
Each morning I'd wake you with a kiss.

My heart went south the day you left
He took you home so you could rest
Why you're gone I'll never know
But I still feel your loving in my soul.

There wasn't a day I didn't know
That you still loved me even though
I wasn't the best
That I could be.

My heart went south the day you left
And all my life's left in a mess
With all we've had and all we are
I've asked the Lord to kiss your heart.

We aimed for love and never missed
But I can't wake you with a kiss
'Cuz my heart went south the day you left
And in a box, my love, you rest.

WHAT LOVE'S ABOUT

Them boys at the bar
Don't know my car
When drink time comes around.
While they're shootin' pool
I'll be home soon
'Cuz we know what love's about.

We know what loves about
With our little home,
And our little yard.

Them boys at the bar
Don't know my car
When drink time comes around.
While they're being fools
I'll be home soon
As they pass their drinks around.

We know what love's about
With our little home,
And our little yard.

We know so well
We've come real far.
