I was born and raised on a farm in Minnesota's Northwoods, east of Mahnomen, Minnesota, by Packard Lake. I was the middle child, in a family of seven children. We learned hard work, and honesty. I was working in Duluth, Minnesota, when I joined the Women's Army Corps, October 20, 1944. After I took basic training at Ft. Des Moines, Iowa, I was sent to Camp Deitrick, Frederick, Maryland, and then later to Army Chemical Co., Edgewood, Maryland, where I worked at post headquarters. I moved to Colorado when I received my Honorable Discharge (Corporal, September, 1948) to be with my (then) husband when he was sent to Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver. I am retired and haved lived in Greely, Colorado, for most of my life. I like to draw, paint, play the harmonica, write poetry and song lyrics. I have many hobbies and keep busy. Five of my poems are published in hardback anthologies, and my latest is "Growing Old" published in "Best Poets Of The Century". I hope my song "Somewhere There's A Good Man" will find a great singer to make it a success!
