"Do You Remember Those Days?"
RealAudio
I wrote "Do You Remember Those Days?" about how wars of great importance happened during my lifetime that made a great impression on me, and changed my life. I had two brothers who fought in World War II. One served in the Navy and the other in the Army. They saw a lot of action and both told us they saw some horrible things and could not understand how people could treat their fellow man in such uncivilized ways. I was a child of seven sitting in a classroom when President Roosevelt's voice came over the intercom, saying that Pearl Harbor had been attacked by the Japanese. I was watching T.V. when those planes struck the World Trade Center towers, and the Pentagon. I could not believe what was happening before my eyes. I sat and cried as I watched, and all I could say was, "Oh, dear God, all those innocent people!" I said to myself, "Not again, dear Lord, not again." I hope this will be a wake-up call to this great country of ours, not to be so trusting and our security so lax, that anyone can ever do this to America again. We must never let our guard down again.
